New Baby

Congratulations on your new arrival!
We’ve put together some information that may be helpful for you as you navigate this journey, including how to register your baby with the surgery, the 8 week baby check, your post-natal check, baby’s immunisations and some useful resources.
Registering Your Baby with the Surgery

You will need to register your baby with the surgery within the next few weeks, you can do this easily via our website, please see the link below:

Register with a GP surgery

You will need baby’s NHS number to do this which you will find inside your baby’s Red Book. We would encourage you to register baby as soon as you are able, so that we can best support you.

Don’t worry – you do not need to have registered your baby at the Register Office beforehand!

New Baby Check & Immunisations
We will contact you in the next few weeks to book in a “New Baby Check” with a GP when your baby is 8 weeks old. This is where the doctor will do a ‘top-to-toe’ check of your baby. This is then followed by a nurse appointment for your baby’s first set of immunisations. We do this all at once to avoid multiple trips to the surgery. Please see the following link for more information on the routine immunisations offered to your baby:

Your Health
When you’re looking after a baby, it’s easy to forget to forget about your own needs. When we book your little one’s 8-week New Baby Check, we will also offer you an appointment for a post-natal check at the same time. In the meantime, if you have any concerns about your general health since having your baby or are experiencing any mental health difficulties, please complete a Klinik form via our website and a clinician will arrange an appointment for you:
